Vapour condensate treatment after sewage sludge drying

4. May 2022

Sewage sludge from municipal sewage treatment plants or industrial wastewater treatment plants may only be used for agricultural purposes with official permission. Vapour condensate is produced during the drying process. It is unavoidable that residues of the sewage sludge are present in the condensate. The vapour condensate thus contaminated must be cleaned before discharge into the sewer system in order to meet the discharge standards. industriellen Betriebskläranlagen dürfen nur mit behördlicher Genehmigung landwirtschaftlich verbracht werden.

Currently, hardly any new permits are being issued, so that thermal sewage sludge utilisation is becoming an increasingly important option. Thermal sewage sludge utilisation is becoming more and more important. Increasingly, sludge is being dried by specialised companies for subsequent thermal utilisation.

Part of this vapour condensate treatment is a TIA wastewater technology flotation plant, which removes fats, oils and other flotable substances from the condensate. The separated flotation sludge is dewatered and reused.
